Most Memorable Movie Quote of All Time: Olivier’s Inchon Classic: ‘I Swear I’m Gonna Kill My Agent’

"Don't insult my intelligence. That list is crap."

“Don’t insult my intelligence. That list is crap.”

I can’t believe they made Nicholson’s “You can’t handle the truth” the No. 1 movie quote of all time. More memorable than “Here’s looking at you, kid,” which is a miserable No. 17?

Look at this lineup and you know the average age of the poll takers was 22. Does anyone remember that line from Back to the Future? Fun movie, but, uh no. And Withnail & I? I saw it once, when it first came out. I remember exactly nothing from it, never mind the gem quoted in this list.

Where oh where is Charles Foster Kane’s “You supply the prose poems, I’ll supply the war”? Or Fast Eddie Felson’s “I’m the best you ever seen, Fats. I’m the best there is. And even if you beat me, I’m still the best.”Or Rufus T. Firefly’s “Go and never darken my towels again!”? Or Woody Allen’s “I think what we have on our hands is a dead shark”? Or Col. Nicholson’s “Oh my God. What have I done?” Or Det. Ray Vargas’ “A policeman’s job is only easy in a police state”? Or Howard Beale’s “I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore!”? Or Michael Corleone’s “It’s not personal, Sonny. It’s strictly business”? Or J.J. Hudsecker’s “Match me, Sidney”? Or President Merkin Muffley’s “Gentlemen, you can’t fight in here! This is the war room!”? Or HAL 9000’s “Just what do you think you’re doing, Dave?”? Or Benjamin Braddock’s “Mrs. Robinson, you’re trying to seduce me”?

This list is illiterate.

I though No. 6 was from “Last Tango in Paris”. Maybe I wasn’t listening.
